GearDex

GearDex is a camera gear inventory app for photographers, videographers, and studios. Each item gets a full record: brand, model, serial number, photos, purchase price, current value, condition, location, and the receipts and warranty files that go with it. You can add gear by typing a plain sentence with Smart Add or by importing a CSV, and you can export everything as ZIP, JSON, or CSV at any time. Beyond the inventory, GearDex plans shoots with locations, call sheets, sun, moon, and tide data, weather, and checklists, and it builds packing manifests from the gear you own. Iris, the built-in AI assistant, answers questions about your kit and checks lens mount compatibility. Showcases let you publish a public page of your gear. Studio adds loans, maintenance, an availability board, and team workspaces. Pricing: Starter is free for up to 25 items. Pro is $39/year or $4/month, and Studio is $179/year or $19/month, with export on every plan. GearDex runs in any modern browser and as a native Mac app (Desktop 1.2.0, macOS 13 Ventura or later, Apple Silicon and Intel). Built by Dylan Andersen, a photographer and developer in Irvine, California, launched in 2025.
