About this project

ChoiceFall is an interactive narrative experience built around choices, consequences, and the uncomfortable uncertainty of not knowing where either will lead. You read. You make a decision. The story changes. Sometimes the effect is immediate. Sometimes a seemingly insignificant choice comes back much later. Characters can remember how you treated them, situations can evolve based on what you’ve done, and different decisions can send the story spiralling in completely different directions. There isn’t always a clearly labelled “good” option. ChoiceFall is interested in the messy decisions: the impulsive ones, the defensive ones, the choices you make because they seem funny at the time, and the moments where every available answer feels slightly wrong. You might try to reason your way through a situation, antagonise it, embrace the absurdity, or make everything significantly worse. And yes, sometimes you may find yourself arguing with an alarm clock. The experience moves between dark humour, surrealism, introspection, psychological tension and outright absurdity. A mundane situation can slowly become unsettling. Something ridiculous can suddenly become strangely serious. A choice that looks like a joke can become the beginning of an entirely new branch of the story. ChoiceFall isn’t designed around finding the “correct” path. It’s designed around discovering your path. Behind the scenes, the story can keep track of decisions, behaviours and events as you play. That means branches don’t have to exist in isolation — things you’ve said or done can influence what becomes possible later, how situations unfold, and how the world responds to you. Some paths reconnect. Others drift further and further away from where you started. Some choices open possibilities. Others quietly close them. You probably won’t see everything in a single playthrough. That’s the point. ChoiceFall is also an ongoing project. The stories, systems and possibilities are continuing to grow as I experiment with what interactive fiction can do when it remembers more than simply which page you clicked last. If you enjoy branching narratives, choose-your-own-adventure games, interactive fiction, dark comedy, surreal storytelling, or simply pressing the option that seems like an obviously terrible idea just to find out what happens… Welcome to ChoiceFall. Make a choice. See where you land.
