About this project

Case Left Open is a browser-based detective game built on one rule: nothing is asked of the player that the evidence can't actually prove. Each file is one working day. You walk the scene — 7 to 9 locations, things to look at, things to take. You sit with witnesses — 5 to 6 people, and some questions only make sense once you're holding the right piece of paper. You pin what you find to an evidence board and connect it — claiming something isn't enough, it has to physically hold together before it counts. Then you sign the indictment. Once. Name the wrong person and the file closes that way, though you can reopen it and start the morning over for another run. The clock is real too. Every move — walking somewhere, asking a question, examining an object — spends from a fixed time budget. You can't do everything, so deciding what's worth your time is most of the game. Two collections so far: five linked files running through a northern harbor town, 1977 to 1979, opened in order, and one standalone file set above the Aegean coast in 1981. No download, no install — works on phone, tablet, or desktop from the same account. Currently in open playtest: everything is free to try, and there's a short survey at the end of each file for anyone who wants to tell me where it breaks. Built solo, with an AI-assisted development pipeline including automated solvability verification — every case is checked to have exactly one provable solution before it ships.
