About this project

Rule a medieval kingdom on a shared map where resources pile up while you sleep, armies take real minutes to march, and the whole world resets every 6 weeks. Free, browser-based, no download, and strictly no pay-to-win. Age of Banners is a text-driven war MMO in the Tribal Wars lineage, built for players who'd rather read a battle report than watch a cutscene. You start with a town hall, a patch of land, and nothing else. Wood, stone, iron and grain accrue in real time whether you're at your desk or asleep. Upgrade your economy, raise an army, and go take what you need. A SESSION TAKES FIVE MINUTES Log in, collect what your kingdom produced, queue a building upgrade and a batch of troops, send a raid, read the reports that landed while you were gone. Then close the tab — the timers keep running. Check back a few times a day. That's the whole game, and it's enough. AN ECONOMY WITH TEETH Five resources, all competing for the same upgrades. Grain feeds your army, so an army bigger than your farms will literally desert. Your warehouse has a cap, so hoarding just paints a target on your back. Gold comes from taxes and plunder, and it pays for every soldier you train. WAR THAT REWARDS THINKING Six unit types — spearmen, swordsmen, archers, knights, rams and scouts — each countering another. Marches take real travel time based on distance and your slowest unit, and your target sees the attack coming with an arrival time, so dodging, timing and preparation all matter. Scout before you commit: knowing what's behind a wall is half the battle. Overwhelming force is cheap; a close fight is pyrrhic for both sides. Raid barbarian camps to grow, claim neutral hamlets for Crown Points, and hit rival kingdoms when you're ready. Losing a battle sets you back — it never deletes you. EVERY AGE ENDS Worlds run for six weeks. When the clock runs out, a victor is crowned in the Hall of Legends and a new Age begins with everyone even. No four-year-old kingdom lording over newcomers, no dead server you can never catch up in. Your titles and records carry forward; your stockpile doesn't. The final week is the Long Night, when Crown Points double and the map gets ugly. FAIR BY DESIGN New players get a 72-hour shield to build up in peace, and the combat math actively punishes big kingdoms for farming small ones. Nothing purchasable will ever affect combat or production numbers — that's a permanent rule, not a launch promise. Age of Banners is made by one developer and is in open beta right now, which means the roadmap is genuinely shaped by whoever shows up early. There's a feedback form on the site and it goes straight to me. Found your kingdom free at ageofbanners.com
